Lori and I welcomed our second son, Ethan Shelton Craig, into the world in dramatic fashion on friday August 29, 2008......inside the car outside Martha Jefferson Hospital, on a lovely cville august evening.
Yes Hawkins, I KNOW you're supposed to make it INSIDE the hospital.
But we figured that it would be more fun if *i* got to clean the car instead of having orderlies clean the L&D suite. (the whole time having "why am i on brain detail" flashbacks and wishing i had the Wolf to take care of problems for me)
Needless to say it was a bit of a dramatic ride down I-64 in from Zion Crossroads at 102mph (including a stop at the side of the road at exit 124 for me to deliver most of his head), but we made it just in time for the midwife to take over the rest.
Mom and baby are doing absolutely great.
His big brother Duncan is VERY excited about being a big brother. To say he's enthusiastic about it is selling it way beyond short. Sometimes a little less exuberence would be nice, but how can you stifle the wonder of a 3 year old for his baby brother?
Speaking of 3 year olds.....getting back into the "poop, eat, poop, sleep, poop" world of newborns after being completely spoiled by a self-sufficient little boy has been a bit of a change, but Ethan's such a chill little guy that it's not been that bad of a transition. Or maybe it's that we've been through it once and are a bit more laid back this time around. Or both. In any event, Duncan can't wait to show him all about cars, cookies, tools, drums, sandboxes, soccer, pizza and everything else that's important in the world of a little boy. "Daddy, is he big enough to play with my Lightning McQueen yet?"
Never in a million years would I have imagined i'd be the father of two blond little boys.
Duncan loves going down to the basement and playing on my drums, seems the acorn don't fall far from the tree. On the way home he asked "what's this song called, daddy?" and when I told him, replied "i love YYZ, daddy. this is my favorite song! i love the drums, it makes head dance!" seems the acorn don't fall far from the tree.
Anyway, everyone's doing well and I'm hoping to get back out to Maartens for a beer soon. I was amazed that my mug was still there a couple weeks ago.....albeit looking a bit old and tarnished.
....kinda like its owner.
cheers,
wade (mr face, resident rabbi feh dickbag) |
