To celebrate the Pep Band's 40th anniversary in 2009, we have a little gift for you -- original films of three Pep Band shows from the inaugural scramble season of 1974! To see the videos, click here: http://www.youtube.com/user/wildcardcis Be sure to click on "see all" in the right-hand column to see all six videos.

We have priceless film of the following Pep Band shows:
1. the 1974 Virginia Tech game (excerpts with sound and video);
2. the 1974 VMI game (complete show with video only); and
3. the 1974 Maryland game (complete show with sound and video).

You will also find links to the script of each show so you can follow along at home! Highlights include: (1) the (in)famous incident where members of the Marching Virginians stole the Pep Band Drum Major's "turkey drumstick" baton and the Pep Band responded by taking the costume head off of the Hokie Bird mascot and (2) the famous "Virginia Slug" formation at the end of the Maryland show -- one of the truly great scramble band formations of all time. Many have heard about these Pep Band "legendary" shows. Now you can see them first hand!

A HUGE "THANK YOU" AND ELECTRONIC FLESH PILE OF GRATITUDE TO PEP BAND ALUM FRANK BLOCK!!! We owe our enjoyment of these long lost treasures of Pep Band history to alum Frank Block, who was the Pep Band's very first Drum Major in 1974. Frank took the time to dig out these old films and have them converted to electronic format. Then he took the time to learn how to post them to YouTube (not an insignificant accomplishment for us alums of the 70s and 80s). THANK YOU FRANK!!!

Scramble on,
