It is with sadness and shock that we must report to you that our friend and former conductor, Jessica Bungard, passed away this morning near her home in Fredericksburg, VA at the age of 31. She was riding her bike, one of her favorite things to do, and was struck from behind by a car. She is survived by her loving husband, Cody Wilmer, her parents, John and Jay Bungard, and her amazing sister, Nora Bungard.

Jessica Bungard (CLAS '99) was a true friend and a shining beacon of joy and optimism. She lived a life of no regrets and numerous accomplishments. Today, our world dimmed, out hearts shrank, and life is known to be precious. Everyone knows that the Virginia Pep Band is a family; it doesn't get said enough, but we love you all. There has never been a better group of friends, a more stalwart band of brothers and sisters. To lose one is to lessen us all.

We will post arrangements on www.orangevest.org as we receive them. Until then, hug your family and never forget to tell the people you
care about that you love them.

Evan,

Is the service for close friends and family only?

Thanks,

An update from the memorial website:

A non-traditional service will be held Saturday 1:30 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (http://www.bsccva.com/) in Harrisonburg. Following the service, friends and family will honor and pay tribute to Jessica’s life at Elk's Lodge 450 (http://www.elkslodge450.com/).

The family suggests any desired memorial contributions can be made to Teen Challenge of Fredericksburg (PO Box 5471, Fredericksburg, VA 22403), Friends of the Rappahanock (PO Box 7254, Fredericksburg, VA 22404), or a charity of choice.
